I utilized my iPhone 13 Pro Max along with the Decibel X app to measure the volume of my steering wheels. Ensuring a consistent distance of 10 cm, I positioned the iPhone with its microphone directed toward the center of the steering wheel. The decibel readings represent the maximum values recorded during specific actions. For gear shifting, the maximum decibel level was noted after multiple shifts. Similarly, pressing all buttons on the steering wheel resulted in the recorded maximum decibel value. When assessing rotary controls, such as thumb encoders, I activated each one individually, recording the maximum volume. This method aimed to capture and quantify the loudest instances during different steering wheel interactions.
